Fatma is a professor in Safety, now she is a Director of Disaster Risk Reduction Center, Universitas Indonesia, and previously she was the Head of Occupational Safety, Health & Environmental Unit. She has the degree of PhD in Safety Science from UNSW, Sydney Australia, and Master & Bachelor Degree in Chemistry. She is a lecturer at Occupational Health & Safety Department, Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Indonesia. Her research is in the area of Emergency/Disaster Management, Disaster Resilience, Campus Safety & Health, Emergency/Disaster Management, Laboratory Chemical Safety & Security, Biorisk Management and OHSMS at University & Laboratories. She teaches Industrial Toxicology, Chemical Hazards Sampling & Measurement, Fire & Explosion and Disaster Management.

She conducted OHS research within Oil & Gas, Mining, and Manufacturer industries including HSSE Risk Assessment, Quantitative Fire & Explosion Risk Assessment, OHSMS, Emergency Response, Business Continuity, Fire Safety, Contractor Safety & Health Management System, and Safety Integrity Level & Layer of Protection Analysis. She is a member of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), USA since 2012 until now. She is also a member of AiChE(American Chemical Engineering), USA since 2013 until now. She is a member of Indonesian National Independent Team for Safety in Oil & Gas, Oil & Gas Directorate Ministry of Energy & Mineral Resources since 2008 until now at which she has been involved in investigating major accidents and conducting safety audits within Oil & Gas Industries. She is also a member of National Safety Awards Evaluator for Mining Industries at which she is involved in Award assessment Team at Mining Directorate Indonesia.
